It is partisanship!...Usually I do not agree much with most of the French people, overall about pretty much everything... I, time to time, found their view being "small" or "narrow" specially in politic or economic reforms, but this started somehow to change about a year and half ago when we finally elected someone who's moving his ass, and who's working for the people, after decades and decades of promising politicians who became "sleeping politicians" once sit in office... See you are not the only ones in the States to have those characters around...
Anyway, I Just wanted to explain that I am not the only foreign "Liberal" on earth believing that Barack Obama is the only logical and necessary choice in the incoming election for the world sake, I wanted to precise that 93% of the French people do think the same way... So for once, I am part of the herd.... beehhhh !!!!! Dam ! I hate to be part of the common of mortals LOL...
French people were already overwhelmed by his visit in Paris, and his invitation to the Elysee by Sarko... And they clearly demonstrated their earlier support to him.
In a poll published last Friday by Le Monde newspaper it is clearly showed that If they were American citizens, 93% of French people would vote for Barack Obama in the presidential elections on November 4th and 7% only give their votes to Republican candidate John McCain. This is a poll CSA / Euro RSCG conducted by telephone on 1 and Oct. 2 from a representative sample of 1 003 people aged over 15 years, produced by the method of quotas.
Even Sarko called Barack "my buddy"... So Nico is a member of the herd too! Good!... another great mind! I feel less alone once again LOL....
Such enthusiasm of the French to a U.S. Democratic candidate is unprecedented.
In 2004, John Kerry raised the accession of 87% of the French against 13% for George Bush, while in 2000 the difference was much smaller between George Bush and his Democratic rival, Al Gore (41% and 59 %).
Moreover, the plebiscite of the senator from Illinois in an election that the French judge for three quarters of them (77%) "important" or "very important" for international life transcends the traditional divide left-right .
He also amplified last month. Beginning in September, a TNS-Sofres survey (conducted on 2 and 3 September with a representative sample of 1 000 people aged 18 and over) showed that the French were 80% hoped the victory of Barack Obama against that 8% of John McCain.
The enthusiasm of the French for the Democratic candidate does not, however, show in their relation with the USA. Well the opposite. About America, French citizens are "critical" (38%) or "worried" (22%) while only 17% said they were 'benevolent' (11%) or "admiring" (6% ). Those who would vote for Mr. Obama are more likely to declare "critical" against the United States (42%) than those who would vote for Mr. McCain (26%). They are also slightly more "worried" (23% against 18%) and less "indifferent" (19% against 23%). Finally, a minority of French (32%) wish that "in the future, France and Europe are closer to American positions", that proportion fell to 22% among supporters of left and 44 % of those of right Hoped for this rapprochement. The international financial crisis could benefit one or the other candidates for the White House? For 61% of respondents, is that Barack Obama should take advantage of the crisis, only 13% cite John McCain.
I am hesitating to tell too high that Obama is so popular with us, Given the virulent anti-French rhetoric of the Republicans, they would use it as an argument against him and, Oh boy... they would rename the French Fries and pour our wine in the ditch once again...
